At CHIJ Secondary, our Science curriculum is centred on inquiry — strengthening knowledge and understanding, sharpening scientific processes and shaping sound ethics and attitudes. Through engaging learning experiences, students develop:

Curriculum

Our Science curriculum seeks to instill a love of science in all our students by giving them a solid foundation of how science is applied in real-world situations and by expanding their knowledge through a variety of learning experiences and competitions. 

We aim to provide a distinctive Science education that fosters curiosity, mastery and ethical responsibility. Through inquiry-driven learning, we nurture critical thinkers who are confident to apply scientific understanding for the good of society and the environment.

We also believe in connecting learning across disciplines. Our approach blends classroom knowledge with enrichment opportunities to nurture real-world problem solvers. In our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)-based lessons and competitions, students apply:

• Scientific and mathematical concepts

• Technology tools and digital literacy

• Communication and collaboration skills

Signature Programmes 

Lower Secondary Science Investigative Project

Students investigate a real-world problem within the school and propose possible solutions through a structured inquiry process. Through this project, students apply scientific knowledge and investigative skills while developing critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Sec 2 STEM Activities

Our Sec 2 students work together to design and decorate umbrella prototypes. Through the activity, they explored ideas of design, function and creativity while learning to test their thinking in practical ways.

During the STEM learning journey, students explored animation through hands-on LEGO activities.
